The club championships of our golf park took place last weekend Gut Hühnerhof instead of. For the first time our members competed in 7 age groups in order to find the best or the best among themselves. The youngsters completed 18 holes, the seniors AG 50 & AG 65 36 holes and the women and men even 54 holes!

After the rain the day before, the weather on Saturday was very golfer-friendly. In pleasant temperatures, the players from the various play groups were able to make their way to their first round of the 2020 Club Championship. Despite the strict infection control measures, the golfers were pampered with homemade meatballs, vegetarian burgers and wraps on both days.

After the first day of the qualifying rounds and the subsequent cut, it was clear that this year's title would be fiercely contested. Probably the most exciting match, which in the end resulted in an almost criminal tension, was played between Traudel Beyer and her long-time friend Yvette Keller in the "Senior Women Age 65" class. The two played both the first round and the second round with the same stroke and were also a maximum of 2 strokes apart during the rounds. After playing 2 holes, both scored a total of 36 and so it was time for the jump-off. So both stepped again on the tee of hole 195 with their island green as their goal in mind. In the end, Yvette Keller showed better nerves and won the match. She now bears the title of "Senior Women Clubmaster AG 18 - 65".

The senior age group 65 did not play that exciting match at first. After the qualifying round on Saturday, Horst Geiger was already in the lead with 5 strokes, but in the final round his pursuer Anton Mulijon fought on just one stroke after 9 holes approach him. On the second 9-hole of the final round, Geiger finally collapsed completely and lost another 6 strokes on Mulijon. So the captain of our golf park was able to win with 175 strokes in total.

For the senior women AK 50, however, it was again extremely exciting. While Verena Neumetzger emerged from the qualifying round as the leader, the match was ultimately decided between her pursuers Sybille Lumme and Dörte Irmscher. If the two were 2 (Lumme) or 3 strokes (Irmscher) behind Neumetzger after the first game day, they overtook them after 7 holes. Sibylle Lumme was able to further extend the lead of one stroke from the preliminary round ahead of her match rival, but after the 11th hole Dörte Irmscher was back to her in one fell swoop and even took the lead for a short time at hole 16. Finally, the two were tied again on hole 18 and Sybille Lumme was able to secure the victory and title after all.

For the seniors AG 50, the result from the qualifying round was decisive for the victory, because on the 2nd matchday the three men on the podium, Ronald Zink, Drazen Curman and Roberto Schon, came to the clubhouse with an 84 round. However, on the first day of play, Zink delivered a top round with only 6 over par and thus confidently defended his club champion title from the previous year.

Isabella Urban and Eva-Maria van Dijkman competed in the women's club championship, which after 3 rounds ended with a clear result of 54 strokes ahead for Urban. Urban was always in the title race in previous years and was finally able to prevail for the first time this year.

The men's club championship had the largest field of participants in which two competitors also fought an exciting battle over all 3 rounds. Last year's winner Dr. Markus Irmscher led the tableau even after the first lap with just one stroke just ahead of second-placed Christian Klammer. The second round on Sunday morning started with a short rain shower, but like the day before the weather was again golfer-friendly with a mix of sun and clouds. Irmscher was able to extend his lead even further and came into the clubhouse with a lead of now a total of 4 strokes. In the afternoon it looked as if the winner had already been determined, as Irmscher was able to extend his lead by another 2 strokes, but Klammer did not give up and after 11 holes and 2 screwed holes by his competitor, his deficit was only 2 Minimize blows. Irmscher, in turn, turned it up again and delivered a real brilliant performance on the last 7 holes and played par. Klammer, on the other hand, finally had to admit defeat with 3 bogeys, even if he could still finish his round with a nice birdie.

The youth club championship also took place on Sunday with just one round. In the end, Jörn de Vries-Hippen took victory with an 18-stroke lead over his rival Collin Kissner.

The new Club Masters 2020 were cheered and celebrated by the spectators and the finalists they defeated directly on the 18 green in the sunset. Michael Hecker, Club Manager and Restaurant Manager, produced Aperol ice cream especially for the award ceremony, which he poured fresh with Prosecco and served for all those present. Together the team left the golf park Gut Hühnerhof end the eventful day with everyone present.
